In the spring of 1990, I purchased my first computer and began learning about typesetting and layout, with plans to eventually begin publishing a small newsletter.

After I began talking among friends and showing them a few pages I'd produced, I met with a guy who had 20+ years experience as a newspaper reporter and editor.

Together, in October of 1990 we published the first of five quarterly issues of Carpe Diem magazine.
